This Privacy Policy explains how the Fuel Log mobile application (“the App”, “we”, “us”) handles information. Fuel Log is provided by seo4.co.nz. We have designed the App to collect as little data as possible. In short: your personal records stay on your own device, and we do not run any accounts, ads or trackers.
The short version: Fuel Log stores your fill-up history only on your phone. It uses your location — only when you ask it to — to find fuel prices near you, and nothing about you is stored on our servers.
1. Information stored on your device
Any data you enter into the App — such as your fuel fill-ups (litres, price paid, date, station name, odometer, notes) and your settings — is saved locally on your device only. It is not transmitted to us, and we cannot see it. If you uninstall the App or clear its data, this information is permanently removed. You can export a backup file yourself at any time from within the App; that file is under your control.
2. Location information
The App can show live fuel prices at petrol stations near you. To do this, when you tap “Find prices near me”, the App requests your device’s approximate location and sends the coordinates only to our price service so it can return a list of nearby stations and their prices.
- Location is used only at the moment you request nearby prices. The App does not track your location in the background.
- Your coordinates are used to look up prices and are not stored by us in a way that identifies you, and are not linked to any account (there are no accounts).
- You can decline the location permission. The rest of the App — your fuel log, spending charts and the detour calculator — continues to work without it.
3. Fuel price data
Live fuel prices are retrieved through a service we operate (a lightweight proxy hosted on Supabase, in the Sydney region), which in turn requests data from the official NSW Government FuelCheck service. This service passes along your requested location and fuel type to obtain nearby prices, and briefly caches price results to reduce load. It does not build a profile of you.

4. What we do NOT do
- We do not require you to create an account or provide your name, email or phone number.
- We do not show advertising in the App.
- We do not use analytics or advertising trackers.
- We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties.
- We do not store your fuel log on our servers.
5. Permissions the App uses
- Location — to find fuel stations and prices near you when you ask. Optional.
- Internet access — to fetch live fuel prices from the price service.
6. Children
Fuel Log is a general-audience utility intended for drivers. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information from children.
7. Data retention and your control
Because your personal records live only on your device, you are in full control of them. You can delete them at any time by clearing the App’s data or uninstalling the App. Short-lived price lookups handled by our service are cached only briefly to improve performance and are not tied to your identity.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
